The Nevada State Museum, Carson City and the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada present their annual Lunar New Year celebration!

If your Chinese Zodiac sign is the Dragon, then 2024 is your year to shine! The Nevada State Museum is once again celebrating Chinese New Year in downtown Carson City on Friday and Saturday, February 9 & 10, 2024, the first day of the Lunar New Year.
Activities begin at the Nevada State Museum with Chinese noisemaker crafts on the first-floor landing, followed by storytelling through folk dance and music in the Dema Guinn Concourse.
A Friday evening performance and reception with the Reno Chinese Dance Group, hor d’vours by Tee Jays. Saturday festivities culminate at 9:30a with crafts, at 10:00a the Carson Valley Chinese Culture Group will do a short dance performance at the State Museum at 10:00 am before the Lion Procession over at the Children’s Museum at 11:00a. During a short break the Mongolian-American performance artist STuro who will do a performance on the Children’s Museum stage. That will be followed up by the full dance performance by the Carson Valley Cultural group.

All of the activities in the Dema Guinn Concourse are free.

Museum admission is $10 for adults and free for members and children 17 and younger.
