The Sagebrush Classic

On May 24th, 25th, and 26th of 2024 the Banger A’s will be hosting the 60th annual NCRG Round-up. The NCRG consists of 25 MAFCA Chapters, representing 1,000 families. The first roundup was held in 1963 and member charters have hosted one every Memorial Day weekend since, primarily for families that cannot attend the Nationals. This year the Banger A’s will be hosting the event in Carson City, NV, and it will be called the Sage Brush Classic. We have full support from the Sage Brush A’s and the Carson Valley A’s, the Carson City MAFCA Chapters. Activities consist of banquets, luncheons, car and era fashion judging, a grand tour, car games, seminars, and other activities of interest to Model Aers.

The Banger A’s is a small but dedicated group and have worked hard to take the costs out and put the fun back in this event. The SageBrush Classic is an homage to the popular field day meets that the Sagebrush A’s held on Labor Day weekend, during the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. To that end, the costs for the event will be for individuals, not car entry. They will be $100 per person, and that entitles you to all the events and all your meals. A couple can come to our event, participate in all the activities, and eat every meal for $200.
The event will take place at Fuji Park, 601 Old Clear Creek Rd, Carson City NV. It is located very close to the intersection of Highway 50 and US-395. This will be designated as a homebase, and all activities and events will either be held there, or originate there. Among it’s many amenities, the park features a large building that we will be using for all said events. You can find photos of the facility on any map system of your liking.

The raffle is a big part of the meet proceeds. This year we are raffling a complete assembled, and test run Burtz engine as a grand raffle prize. Tickets will be sold in the months leading up to the event with the drawing being held on May 26, at the awards banquet. The winner need not be present to claim the prize. The engine will be taken to various events to be promoted and sell tickets. Tickets are priced at $10 each, or $100 for 15.
We are being assisted in this area by the Carson City Visitor Center, and up to date information will be posted here on the website.
