Come snowshoe with Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space. Experienced staff and volunteers will take you out on these beautiful winter trails of the Sierra. No experience is necessary. Snowshoes and poles are provided, or you’re welcome to bring your own if you have some. Due to COVID-19, space is limited to small groups that will allow for social distancing. Face coverings will be required. Unfortunately, also due to COVID, transportation cannot be provided. This is a meet on location activity until social distancing regulations are lifted.
Spooner Lake State Park requires a $10 entrance fee per vehicle that is not included in registration.
Come prepared for the weather and wear warm, water-proof or water-resistant clothing. Winter boots or water-proof boots are preferred, however due to the short time we’ll be in the snow, regular hiking books can work with wool socks. Just know your feet may get a little wet. Dress in layers. You may be warmer hiking in the snow than you’d expect. Bring a pack you can add or remove layers with, water, and snacks. If the forecast is sunny, we recommend sunscreen and sun glasses.
Dates and locations are subject to change based on weather and depth of snow (there needs to be some). Registration is required. A detailed meeting location map will be sent after you register along with a waiver. Children 12-17b are welcome to come along with a participating adult.
