A Walk in the Park

On sunny summer days, visitor’s to Mills Parks in Carson City are greeted by the ringing of a bell, which means ”˜get out of the way, the train’s coming.’ It’s not a traditional train, but a scaled-down model, small enough to carry only kids as its cargo.

During special events the train, which roars on small tracks around the park, is brought out. And kids are thrilled to take a ride with the conductor, showing off for little brothers and sisters as it rounds the last bend toward the home stretch.

At the east end of Mills Park, the Pony Express Pavilion plays host to roller hockey teams, special events and a weekly farmer’s market.

At Fuji Park and Fairgrounds, thousands flock each year to dog training competitions, car and motorcycle shows, and of course, livestock events. The park is located adjacent to the Comstock RV Park, and has a playground and stream.

Ross Gold Park features a well-stocked fishing pond, open to the public. It’s a fun find for aspiring anglers.
