Carson City has a wide variety of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Start your morning by fueling the family at local's favorite Squeeze In, where writing on the wall is encouraged! Try some funky and fun foods like chocolate covered bacon.

After breakfast it's time to hit the museums. The Nevada State Museum is a great launching point for the day; it's where minds and kids can wander through the history of not only Carson City but Nevada too. It's easy to spend two engaging hours here.

From the Nevada State Museum, take the short walk to the beautiful Capitol Building and the Capitol Complex, explore the grounds, statues, trees and wander by the memorials behind the Capitol. If you have smaller children with you, the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada may be a better option to let them run freely in the open museum space.

If it's time to fuel up again, Great Basin Brewery is just a quick walk from the Capitol and a great family stop to enjoy wood-fired pizza, burgers, sandwiches and so much more.

After lunch let's hit the trail! The Kings Canyon Waterfall Trailhead is just a 5-minute drive from downtown. Once you arrive, it's a short quarter mile hike to the 25-foot Kings Canyon Waterfall. It's an easy hike for all ages and levels. If it's a nice day, bring your lunches with you to enjoy at the waterfall. If you are up for a longer hike, from the same trailhead is a longer 1-mile or 3-mile loop.

Carson City is home to numerous events throughout the year, be sure to check our events calendar while planning your trip. In Summer, the Levitt AMP Concert Series is a must-attend. It's a free summer concert series that takes place every Saturday night over 10 consecutive weeks. In the winter, the Brewery Arts Center is where you can enjoy their fire-pit and outdoor musical sound garden the kids will love. If dinner is calling try Red's 395 Grill for great BBQ and an even cooler interior to entertain.

If those aren't appealing, when in doubt, head to the hot springs. Carson Hot Springs, where the 2 purest water in the world warms the body and soul of any age. Try "The Hammer" to release the travel tensions away, hop in the big pools, newly renovated or rent a private room while you're here. After, walk 10 feet over for all the eclectic eats at Sassafras.
