Artist Decorated Rocking Chair Auction
The Rocking Chairs will be available for purchase through an online auction from April 16 to April 23”. The winning bidder will be notified on Monday April 24: CLICK HERE TO BID.
As a part of the Mark Twain Days festival, we are holding a Rocking Chair Painting activity that will be a part of street decorations for the festival. Mark Twain’s portraits and photos almost always have him seated on a rocking chair. Rocking chairs will be provided to interested artists in Feb – March, so they can decorate a chair in any way they wish to reflect Mark Twain’s character, stories or the 1860’s era when he lived in Carson City.
The decorated chairs should be delivered to the Brewery Arts Center Gallery room by April 1st where they will be displayed for the month of April. On the 20th of April the chairs will be moved out into downtown locations where they will be securely displayed during the festival weekend.
Bid online for your favorite and win it during the event. A percentage of the purchase price will be shared with the artist, with the remainder going to support the festival.
Two of the chairs to be auctioned (left) has the home in which he lived here in Carson City and right is a children’s rocker with a quote.
