Experience the Magic of a Winter Weekend Getaway

Day 1

After fueling up for a day of fun, head to the Nevada State Railroad Museum. It’s filled with beautifully restored locomotives—40 of which were built before 1900—and stories of the Silver State’s railroad days. An activity that’s perfect for train enthusiasts and casual visitors alike, you’ll be sure to leave with plenty of fun facts and unforgettable memories. (Don’t forget to snap a selfie in front of a vintage train car!)

After the museum, lace up your walking shoes and hit the Kit Carson Trail. With the help of an informative audio tour, you’ll wander through Carson City’s historic district and easily spot iconic landmarks, such as 1800s-era Victorian-style homes and churches. See the charming architecture of Rinckel Mansion and the home of Louis Prang, who’s known as the father of the American Christmas card! How’s that for festive fun?

Day 2

On your second day in Nevada’s capital city, soak up the area’s natural beauty and local flavor.

Pack a thermos of hot cocoa (whipped cream encouraged!), and kick off the day at Carson River Park. Here, you’ll enjoy everything you can’t get in Big City: crisp mountain air and scenic views in every direction. Whether you’re interested in hiking or listening to the gentle flow of the river, this is a great spot to explore the great outdoors.

From the Carson River Park, take a short drive or hike the short connector trail to Silver Saddle Ranch. Wander the trails surrounded by sweeping views of sagebrush and snow-capped mountains. Finish up with a lively dinner at the Nashville Social Club. This dining hotspot brings a Southern twist to Carson City with its flavorful food and drink menus. Cajun seafood pasta, brick-oven pizzas, smoked beef ribs, chicken & waffles—are you drooling yet? Their beverage options are just as delicious, from rockin’ cocktails to a variety of beer and wines. Day 3

Wrap up your winter getaway on a high note, including art, local brews, and a bustling shopping plaza.

After breakfast, swing by the Brewery Arts Center to check out its vibrant murals, local art galleries, and unique exhibits. Maybe even catch a workshop or performance brimming with creativity.

When lunchtime rolls around, head to The Fox Brewery & Pub. Sample their selection of award-winning craft brews and, once you find your favorite, pair it with their mouthwatering comfort food. Not sure which dish to choose? Locals love their fish & chips, chicken pot pie, burgers, and wings. Pro tip: Recharge by the firepits on their patio with an ice-cold beverage!

Right outside of The Fox is Bob McFadden Plaza. This gathering spot offers a perfect spot to wander, shop, or snap one last photo under the twinkling lights. 

Make the ending of your Carson City adventure a sweet one. At Scoups Ice Cream & Soup Bar, you can treat yourself to a scoop of ice cream or a bowl of soup!
