The Cracker Box opened its doors on May 10, 1980, with one goal: serve the best breakfast in town. Owner Jerry Massad, coming from a long line of restaurateurs, has kept that promise for over 35 years. What started as a cozy 24-seat diner with Jerry cooking and a single waitress has grown, but the quality and care remain the same.

At The Cracker Box, every breakfast and lunch is made from scratch. From house-made sausage gravy and hand-dipped chicken-fried steaks to cured corned beef, fresh soups, and salad dressings, the focus is on hearty, homemade meals. Don’t miss the “Soon to be Famous” home-style spuds or juices squeezed to order.

Consistently voted “Best Breakfast in Carson City” by locals and recognized by TripAdvisor with a Certificate of Excellence, The Cracker Box has also earned accolades from AAA’s Via Magazine as “Best in the West.” Beyond great food, the staff proudly supports the community through local charities and events.
