Join us and Dr. Thomas Herring, Professor of Physics at WNC, for a star gazing event unlike any other. We will be hiking up Dead Truck Canyon and observing the stars through a telescope from atop Prison Hill. Bring your glow sticks and other glow in the dark apparel as well as flashlights, appropriate footwear, and water. The hike is considered Very Difficult under the IMBA trail rating system. The trail is steep, sandy and contains many obstacles.
This event will be socially distanced and everyone is required to wear a mask during the entirety of the program. Meet at the Red House parking area of Silver Saddle Ranch.
Need to Know:
-Online registration is required.
-Masks are required.
-Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
-Dogs must be on a six foot leash.
Parking Instructions:
Turn South onto Carson River Rd. from 5th St.
Continue down Carson River Rd. for 1.5 miles.
Turn into the Silver Saddle Ranch dirt rd.
Continue down the dirt road until you hit the “Park Here” sign.
