Erik Holland: Amerikan Townscapes

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 11:00am on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, repeating until December 1, 2018

Erik Holland has worked as an artist his entire adult life. Amerika, spelled with a K to denote concern with our troubled times, was born out of a desire to depict the many sides of America. The images come from the life of artist Erik Holland, starting in 1980, when he painted “Spirit of the Eighties.” The show is in fact a retrospective of the artist’s life from 1980 to the present. In the 80’s, America went from being the world’s largest creditor to the world’s largest debtor. As years passed, America endured shocks, such as the 9-11 attacks. But good things happened too, more tolerance towards different groups emerged; Amerika Townscapes depicts all aspects of American life, good and bad. The Carson City show is the opening act of a nationwide tour!
